In these Corona Times, the world is changing and its a scary time for many of us. While some have to work even harder, others have to stay home against their will.
For those who want to distract their mind from the bunch of news and information out there and instead want to do something good or relaxing for their minds – I collected a list of things you could do at home and collected all the direct links for you! 🙂
Mental Health Tips
- Don’t actualize the news site every few hours. maybe staying away from the whole topic and numbers would be the best for busy minds.
- plan skype dates and phone calls with your loved ones. You could make a quiz game night with your friends via skype 🙂
- make a list of all the things you always wanted to do/ learn and tick them off in these days, by just starting! (If its creativity related: skillshare has some great free online courses)
- Write a diary. That could help with mental health issues and balancing out your feelings
- additionally to that, you could get back into journaling!
- Keep your mind busy, so it won’t have time to overthink.
- if it helps you: Make yourself a schedule (no matter if you are in the home office or quarantine). A structured day can help our minds a lot!

For Book Bloggers there is also the possibility to open up an account on www.netgalley.com or www.netgalley.de . When the account is complete you can scroll through the available review copies and apply for them. The publishers will choose bloggers and send them the e-books directly to their kindles. You will be happy to have done that, even after the corona times are over!
Shop Local
As you may have seen: Amazon (as always) is more into commercializing this situation and is stockpiling on disinfectants and masks and there won’t be books up for preordering or delivery at the moment. That’s why you should totally check out the websites of your local book stores and publishers and order directly on their websites. Even when you are not sure about delivery you can order ALL the e-books online 🙂

For Gamers
As most who usually play videogames, know, there are many options to buy virtual games instead of CDs. Instead of ordering the games on Amazon as a physical copy you can buy virtual games (full versions) in the Playstation Play Store, on Steam (for Computers) and probably also on other consoles? That means you can just click, buy and start playing!

Audio Books
There are several providers for audiobooks. I use both “Audible” and “Bookbeat“. But there are also several great and actual audiobooks available on Spotify for free too. There you can find lots of “Disney” Movie audiobooks for your kids, just like romance and fantasy books for yourself. (Like the “Amber in the Ashes” series. I found this guide that explains how you get the easiest way to your audiobooks on Spotify. Because when, now in corona times, you search for audiobooks or podcasts, the first on the list will be corona related.
Sports/ Meditation
On youtube, you can find lots of sporty workouts. Long, short, exhausting and relaxed – you choose. I always use youtube videos to do yoga. But there are also some great meditation-videos out there. Just search for one that sounds the best for you. I like to have someone, whose voice I find relaxing. There are also lots of Apps out there for yoga practice or meditation!
Things you could also spend your time with:
- Put together your own capsule wardrobe
- declutter your closets and home
- repair all the damaged stuff in your flat
- clean the flat – and thank me later when you are laying in your freshly made bed
- try out all the new recipes.
- read other peoples blogs and finally keep up with commenting and liking 🙂
- if you are not alone: Play Board Games or plan a Readathon with friends (only online chatting allowed!)
