The last city on Earth is contaminated. Now blood is the only thing that can wash it clean. Julia is trapped inside the Blue as the Nobles fight over the few humans who are still alive. When the dust settles and she finds herself shackled to a new master, she knows she must escape or die. Meanwhile, Cam has gathered a handful of comrades and is on his way into the Red to rescue his queen. But not all of his friends can be trusted, and not all of them will make it back alive.
The first book was really good, so I just had to read the sequel too – and I can tell you I wasn’t disappointed.
The silver queen is the second book in the sovereign series about the mundane Julia and the silver Cam.
This series still is a thing I haven’t ever read before and that surprises me a lot. I don’t really know how describe and review you feel while reading this slow burning science fictiony eposlike book with a vampire trope we haven’t seen before!
The second book starts exactly where the gilded king has ended – in a big war between the silvers and the humans and I was so stoked for how strong and fearless the female characters in Josie Jaffray books are and how precious and sensible yet still strong and terrifying her male characters are.
I loved that Josie Jaffray invented such a strong backstory. What happened to humankind in the past? Why are people slivering? She describes everything in a nondescriptive way through conversations. That was such a great way to pack a huge backstory like this into a smaller book with its own plot!
And you’ll never know what awaits you in this world! It is bloodthirsty and super chilling and it ended with a huge cliffhanger. Great Josie now I need the third book ASAP
This series made me badly wanting to red the prequels! What happens to Sol and Emmy and who was Cam in the past? Why went the world so dark? – so if you are interested in this book you should probably start with her Silver series! (I’ll leave you the links below!)
